Phoned up the day before wanting to collect ashes and was told it was fine and that they would get ashes ready to drive over a 100 miles with my 3 young children to get there and it was closed, 3 hour journey home, I am not happy!
Im dying to visit
Well maintained and growing by the day. This is Lutons main council crematorium and cemetery. I have attended a handful of funerals here and Im familiar with it having lived opposite for many years growing up. It has a chapel and 3 or more buildings that services are held at. It is what you expect there is free parking, though I would sadly advise locking your car up well this isnt due to my personal experience but standard practice in the area anywhere and I have heard of incidents at various times. (Sad to think!!) chances are if ur a lucky resident of the town at some point this place will have a part in your final departure even if not your resting place . They push cremation as ever and have a choice of burial or scattering of ashes with flower beds trees and small named tributes to suit the individual. My view is that unfortunately and due to our population and the pressure on a place to deliver efficiently the outcome is a very impersonal in and out feeling to something that everyone hopes not to be this way. I know any service you attend will be like a queue in a supermarket and you will certainly bump into the previous and next party often they maybe waiting for you to clear the chapel. The cemetery has plans for 2fields at this spot and then have a field further on down the a505 at a separate location within half a mile by Lilly. I cant say its not maintained well or has any litter graffiti or the like but on the last burial here the priest was speaking over the digger that was within sight and certainly earshot carving out another hole in the ground. There is a nice area with a pond and memorial benches are also available but I would opt for a quiet churchyard over here every time!
The vale isa lovely serene area well kept and much revered It is one of the most attractive and peaceful places in Luton/Stopsley region and much loved by Lutonians far and wide fitting that its held in such high regard first class god bless.
Nicely kept space and nice service given for a couple of friends on different occasions.
