Rang doctors at 8.25 rang 180 times got though waited 20 minutes before they answered only to be told no appointments left. It's 2nd on the list of worse surgeries in luton and now I can see why. Told to go the following day at 7.45 and wait to get it and make an appointment really I'm bloody sick and you want me to stand outside in the bloody cold. I totally give up with this surgery I really do.
Have found the team at the surgery very helpful and a vast improvement on my old surgery in Luton. The reception staff are very helpful, and despite what gets complained about, show endless patience when being abused and shouted at for matters they cannot control. Yes, it can sometimes be hard to get an appointment (best to go down to the surgery for opening and wait, if you can), but this is not the fault of the staff. Blame the government, and the ludicrous underfunding they, and all others, suffer. They will have to ask you what the problem is regarding to direct you in the right place, as in any surgery, but never force any detail and only look for a vague answer to try and help. The doctors have been fantastically helpful to me over the past year/18 months due to unexpected health problems, ensuring I have had all of the referrals and follow ups that I need, and have shown a compassionate demeanour. This is predominantly regarding Dr. Shah, and another female doctor, who's name I can never remember to spell....!! I have had negative interactions with one doctor in particular at the surgery (Dr. Esteki, regarding a mental health issue), but request only to see the above doctors and have never had a problem since. I imagine over the last few years more training has been had to handle such matters more effectively also.All surgeries have their issues, the NHS is being put under ridiculous strain, but if you are a respectful person, I have found you get treated with the utmost respect and consideration in return.
So as others have said, this surgery deserves no stars but it does deserve to be shut down for complete incompetency. Okay if you just need a repeat prescription but even that they mess up and you run backwards and forwards to the doctor and pharmacy and when you do locate the medication, you find that half of it is missing. I went to this surgery a few months back with sciatica, and on the first appointment I was given co-codamol (fair enough) and told to go buy a book (it was a specific one and not just Hansel and gretal) and told to do some swimming and join Pilates. (don't know how I was going to do that given I worked full time and was a single mum to a 4 year old but yeah I get that bit) My sciatica worsened rapidly and I asked for an MRI scan but was told no and that I would be referred first to the MSK service (OK that's fine). Went to the MSK to be told that I needed urgent physio therapy which I'm still waiting for. To cut a long story short, I went back and forward to this surgery begging for help/investigation because I knew something was not right. I got told at my first appointment that it would be done and dusted in a month and i'd be fine. However I have deteriorated rapidly and instead of investigations they just stuffed me with medication, all in all I am taking abour 25 tablets per day but still no investigation and no physio therapy.The medication for pain included: 3 x balcophen a day, 1 omeprazole per day for naproxen (although I had to ask for this several times first) 3 x naproxin per day, 3 x gabapentin a day. 1 - 2 diazapam per day and 10ml of morphine every 4 -6 hours per day but they still maintained this would soon clear up and no investigation needed. I went to a private chiropractor and back lady out of desperation and both stated that because of the amount of medication I am on, the pain that I was still clearly in then they couldn't do anything until I had an MRI scan. I was told asked by several other health care professionals outside of Wheatfield surgery if I had been for an MRI or was I on the waiting list and the answer was always no because wheatfield refused to do it. One afternoon I went back to this surgery on the advice of outside health professionals and stated that I really needed an MRI scan or better treatment and I was told there was nothing wrong with me (Despite being on 25 tablets a day with only 5 of them not related to pain and walked with a crutch), they wouldn't give me any more medication to help with the pain as I was on depokite (that is for something completely different). I became very upset out of pure frustration and became very tearful and did raise by tone slightly because I was just being ignored constantly. It resulted in me storming out of the surgery and was then given a letter to state that I have been removed from their patient list. (Thank god)So I then went and got myself a private consultation and was provided that day with a private MRI scan which has shown multiple concerns which reading a book would not resolve. I have been told that whilst I await my new registered GP, they are obliged to provide urgent medical care and provide any medication that is required until I am fully registered with my new GP however they have messed me around, at one point they said they wouldn't provide, then I got back to them with the information that I have found out stating they had to so then they said they would but then they kept on delaying the prescription and when I finally went down there they then said that they were not doing the prescription. Again informed them they had to but got no where, explained that I needed medication for another considerate health concern that requires regular medication or could end me in hospital if I don't have them and they said that they did not care. I have gone to out of hours 111, urgent gp clinic and walk in centre in luton and have stuggled so much to get medication for my pain but also my other condition but unable as they have stopped the medication without discussion.
Very bad experience.I had appointment booked and the doctor cancelled it through the phone.He couldnt wait i explain all my symptoms even after telling him some symptoms i couldnt discuss in public i needed some privacy.He jumped into conclusion of what might be the problem and left an antibiotic prescription without examination .I feel dissapointed and wouldnt recommend.
Awful receptionist! I just called to book my wife for appointment. (a few days earlier they called me on the matter and asked me to call back) Unfortunately, the receptionist wanted to know why my wife did not call herself. I gave the reason why. Then I was informed that this lady can not talk to me about my wife's health, I said that there was written consent, The receptionist continued, that there is no such consent. I say I call you back at your request, so can I make an appointment for my wife or not? In a raised voice, the receptionist said that yes, but I do not have permission and she has hung up the phone! Two other nice receptionists work in this surgery, this one was probably new but completely wrong with the choice of work and approach to people!I just wanted a book an appointment for my wife...
