Picked up a car 6 days ago, big scratches werent marked. Came back after 6 days to leave a car and with another reservation for 3 days from same company. They asked me for proof of address and refused to give the car as of course I didnt have one as I wasnt asked for this 6 days ago. Big scam!! Renting a car with full protection online. Pick up the car at the airport. Finding out in your own country that they took another 216 euro off. For local protection and letting you sign papers with out knowing you booked an insurance. Nothing you can do. Cause you signed the 'normal' contract. But what goes around comes around. Hope you enjoy the money from a little family from 4 :)
When we went to pick our car we were informed that there is a mileage limit on the car that supposedly was on the fine print of the contract. We agreed to pay another 190 to cover full insurance and unlimited mileage. Before leaving I took photos of the car as there was a small scratch on the passenger door and the car had no carpets. When we returned back the car, one of the staff came over and immediately saw the scratch and asked us to see the contract. When we informed him that we were fully insured he dropped his concern and opened the car door. Since we did not have any carpets obviously the car was going to have a little bit of dust and small tree leaves and twigs on the floor (since it was early Autumn). When he saw this he pointed out that we were going to be charged another 60 to clean the car! We were gobsmacked. I pointed out that of course it was going to be a bit dirty since there were no elastic carpets, our shoe soles would get the car dirty. Here we left with the car again to a nearby fuel station and had to vacuum the whole car. When we returned an employee who identified himself as the manager said that he had never heard of such a case and the car was in a very clean condition. Not a company I would be hiring from anytime soon.
Car was fine but although we booked unlimited mileage and paid 4 days rent, they tried to charge us surplus in km above 3 days as we returned the car two hours early! Thankfully in the interrent contract it clearly stated 4 days. Be very careful and check the car before you sign the rental contract when you don't have 0 excess insurance. Before we left, we noticed a lot of damages on the car that were not mentioned on the contract.
