Don't have the category of car you pay for and for some reason think an outlander is a good upgrade to a BMW or Mercedes...
I was let down badly by Thrifty, booked a van online 2 days in advance, arrived and told nothing available, i traveled 30 minutes to get there as well. No phone call or anything! I ended up hiring from a local independent company who were very helpful
Picked up a car yesterday from Thrifty Luton. Got collected at the airport and driven to the branch. Dealt with quickly by the very friendly staff. Price was good and the car was excellent. Very pleased with the service.
Incident date 7/6/18 They would not let me have the hire car I booked online due to not having a utility bill in my name, even though I took lots of extra ID to make up for this. I couldn't provide a utility bill due to me not having one. I do not pay the bills. I tried to explain that I lived to far to go home and get a letter in my name but they would not budge from the policy. Very unhelpful and inflexible. I only wanted the car for 1 day to drive to leeds for a football match. The man on reception was rude, arrogant and seemed to enjoy the fact he was not giving me the hire car. He spoke to me like im an idiot and made me feel like an idiot. Very poor level of customer service. Nasty, arrogant and inflexible. Avoid.
Ive rented a lot of cars over the last 7 months and these guys were the most professional. I dealt with Phil and Carl on numerous occasions and they were very helpful and always tried to help out if there were any problems. Straight down the line, genuine and no nonsense. They even sourced a car for me from Thriftys extended fleet that I wanted to test drive for a week. Great selection of hardly used cars, especially if you like BMWs. After some of the shenanigans Ive experienced hiring elsewhere I would recommend Thrifty Luton every time. Pre pay online for the best prices and make sure you check carefully what documentation you need and what type of card is required for the deposit (debit or credit) as that is not always clear at the time of booking.
